Birding Abundance at Pafuri..

As a devoted #Pafurian twitcher, my ultimate dream is to collect sightings of the rarest, most extraordinary birds, each one a treasured connection to the wild beauty of Pafuri!

Pafuri Camp is a haven for birding enthusiasts, located in the northern Kruger National Park, where diverse ecosystems converge. With over 450 bird species recorded, this region is a hotspot for avian biodiversity, offering the chance to spot rare species like Pel’s Fishing Owl, Böhm’s Spinetail, and the Racket-tailed Roller. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or simply a nature lover, Pafuri’s lush riverine forests, floodplains, and baobab-dotted landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable birding experience.

Nestled within this pristine wilderness, Pafuri Camp offers tented accommodations that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Overlooking the Luvuvhu River, the camp provides a peaceful retreat, where guests can relax after a day of exploration. With guided walks, game drives, and exceptional hospitality, Pafuri Camp is where adventure, wildlife, and comfort meet in perfect harmony.

Why Pafuri for birding?

Pafuri Camp is a prime destination for birding during the Spring and Summer months, from October to February, when migratory birds flock to the region. This vibrant season brings an influx of species from Europe, Asia, and other parts of Africa, drawn to the lush landscapes and abundant resources of the northern Kruger. Visitors can witness the arrival of colourful species like the Woodland Kingfisher, Broad-billed Roller, and Amur Falcon, adding to the already impressive birdlife.

With over 450 recorded species, Pafuri becomes a birder’s paradise during these months, offering unparalleled opportunities to spot rare and migratory birds in their natural habitat. Whether you’re exploring the floodplains, riverine forests, or baobab-strewn hills, every corner of Pafuri bursts with life, making it the ultimate birding destination in South Africa’s wild north.
