RETURN Africa announces the temporary closure of Baobab Hill House to allow for a series of upgrades designed to enhance comfort and convenience for families and groups.
Perched on an outcrop above the Luvuvhu River, Baobab Hill House is cherished for its simplicity, privacy and wilderness immersion. The modest improvements will elevate the guest experience whilst preserving its character.
On 29th March 2026 the house will reopen ready to welcome guests into refreshed spaces that honour both the intimacy of the house and the grandeur of its surroundings.
Enhancing Guest Comfort
Key upgrades include:
- Bedroom 3 – more spacious with a new en suite bathroom
- Bedroom 4 – more spacious with a new en suite bathroom
- All bedroom windows replaced with double glazing
- Air conditioning installed in every bedroom
- Multi‑function bedside plug points added for convenience
- An expanded solar plant to support sustainable energy use
These enhancements are designed to make Baobab Hill House even better suited to shared adventures, long stays, and multi‑generational travel.

Guest Experience and Renewal
The upgrades reflect RETURN Africa’s ongoing commitment to blending wilderness immersion with thoughtful hospitality. Guests will find the renewed Baobab Hill House more comfortable, while still deeply connected to the rhythms of the Pafuri landscape.
Words from Our Operations Director
“The improvements to Baobab Hill House will provide more comfort and convenience, but have been deliberately designed to retain the character of this old SANParks section ranger’s house. For those wishing to experience the abundance and beauty of the green season at Pafuri alongside the certainty of cool nights under the sheets, Baobab Hill will now offer the perfect sanctuary.” – Harald van Lennep, Operations Director
