Hutwini offers an intimate bush experience along the Luvuvhu River. Spacious tents, with outdoor bucket showers and flush toilets, open to the sounds of the wild, while the camp’s “mess” tent provides a welcoming space for dining and reflection. Al fresco meals along the riverbank let you savour nature in every bite.
Nestled in the Makuleke Contract Park, a walker’s paradise with low road density, Hutwini invites hours of exploration on foot. Guided by seasoned rangers, you may encounter large mammals and uncover hidden traces of history, from ancient stone tools to Makuleke-era artefacts.
Set within a Ramsar wetland, surrounded by fever tree forests, giant baobabs, and palm-fringed floodplains, Hutwini is a place to walk softly, listen deeply, and RETURN to the rhythms of the wild.

Booking terms
- All quotations/provisional bookings are valid for 14 days.
- A 20% deposit is required to secure the booking (unless otherwise stated).
- The balance is payable 60 days prior to arrival.
- No-shows will not be refunded.
- Check-in is strictly from 14:00 unless by prior arrangement.
- Please advise arrival time of guests.
Payment
- Cash deposit payments must be pre-arranged with head office and carry a 3% surcharge on the total invoice.
- Forex (international money transfer): bank fees are the responsibility of the travelling guest — should this not occur, RETURN Africa reserves the right to bill a 3% surcharge on the total invoice.
- Should a refund need to be made on a forex or credit card payment to an international account, RETURN Africa will not be held liable for any exchange rate fluctuations.
- Regret no cheques accepted.
- When receiving an invoice from RETURN Africa, please ensure it comes from one of our official reservations email addresses: reservations@returnafrica.com.
Cancellations
- Cancellations must be received and acknowledged by RETURN Africa in writing.
- Cancellations of bookings for which no "commitment fee" has been paid will carry no cancellation fees.
- Cancellations of bookings (for any reason other than a WHO pandemic advisory that directly impacts the booking) for which a commitment fee or full payment has been received will incur the following cancellation fees:
- If cancelled between confirmation and 61 days prior to arrival, the 20% commitment fee is forfeited.
- If cancelled 60 days or less prior to arrival, the full reservation value is forfeited.
- All cancelled bookings that qualify for a refund will be refunded less a 5% handling fee.

Guides from pafuri supported the ride and made it possible - Zane was incredible. Cecilia Muller1989 days agoMy daughter and I had the two most amazing days at the Pafuri tented camp. Beautiful, spacious and private rooms right on the river - we could do birding from our porch. The staff was amazing and the food was exceptional. Our guide Brad helped us to identify 82 bird species in just two days. He also has a very good knowledge on plants, trees flowers etc and we learned a lot of new things about the bush through him. I can’t wait to go back!Posted on Facebook
